Extreme poverty kills millions every year through malnutrition and disease. Although parts of the world are prosperous, a large portion of mankind still live in extreme poverty. The Bible indicates that poverty has been an ongoing problem among humans.—Read John 12:8.
It would take a world government to end poverty. Such a government would have to have the power both to distribute the world’s resources fairly and to end wars, which are a major cause of poverty. God has promised such a world government.—Read Daniel 2:44.
Who can eliminate poverty?
God has appointed his Son, Jesus, to rule over all mankind. (Psalm 2:4-8) Jesus will rescue the poor and bring an end to oppression and violence.—Read Psalm 72:8, 12-14.
As the foretold “Prince of Peace,” Jesus will establish world peace and security. Then all on earth will live in their own home, enjoy satisfying work, and have plenty to eat.—Read Isaiah 9:6, 7; 65:21-23.

Even if everybody in the world was at least as rich as you, there would still be the perception of poverty to many.
Whilst there would not necessarily be absolute poverty in the way we understand it today, there would still be relative poverty. The less well-off in society would believe themselves to be poor because everybody else had more than them. There would, then, be at least an illusion of poverty (it's for you to decide whether or not it would be real).
The only way to completely erase poverty would be to have a redistributive state that keeps everybody at the same, high level of living. But the Soviet Union found that that is incompatible with human nature.

Yes, it would be possible to live in a world without poverty, but is that going to make everyone happy? Would it be doing the poor a favour?
Is money the root of the problem? Does being poor mean that you are unhappy? Not necessarily so.
Does YOUR money make YOU happy? How much are you in debt? Do you worry about how to pay your bills? How much is on your credit card? Mortgage? You may earn more money than someone else, but if you're 'cash poor', then you will be unhappy.
I bet there are more suicides and cases of manic depression in rich countries than poor countries.

It is much more possible to live in a world where there is still a lot of poverty, living in poverty just ceases to be such a problem.
In societies where the culture is for people to look out for each other's most basic needs poverty is not a problem really. You can be poor. You can live. You take pride in doing whatever you can do. No problem.

Poverty has existed since man walked on this earth.
If the Govt in UK spent money on Helath, Education, Social Needs, much of the poverty in UK can be got ridden of also.
Instead they use our tax payers money to kill thousands of civil innocent peole ariound the world.
Afterall, poverty stems from much of the policies that are in place.
For example, the EU accepting Romani and Bulgaria soon, they all want to come to UK, cause of our welfare system. So UK will see more poverty and as a result, more crime on our streets.
Poverty can only be eliminated by proper means and channels of policies which favour the individual and not the Govt. Unfortunately it is the opposite today.

Sure it is possible. There are two ways to go about doing it.
First you can either get the entire world to realize that we are all just insignificant animals floating around the universe on a wet rock, and that we are all in this together; regardless of race, religion, sex, wealth... Once you have done that, we can all start to work together in a Renaissance that would make Leonardo look like Bob Ross.
The second is a lot quicker, but not as nice. We can simply go around and "cleanse" the world of all of its poor. I DO NOT in anyway believe this to be a good answer or morally correct in the slightest, but you asked the question. If I had my way, we should try and implement plan 1.

No. You may not believe this but most poverty stricken are so because they are lazy. Anyone in the USA that wants to make a good living in the long run can. Yet we still have poor.

I think that it is not possible to eradicate poverty when there are so many world leaders who are power hungry maniacs. There are enough resources on Earth though for everyone.
