They live in a hotel because they can't afford a house. The only reason they get to live there because their mom is the singer.

Carrie Martin, the mother of Zack and Cody, got divorced with her, ex-husband, Kurt. Carrie was out of a job for a while, while they were living at their grandmother's home. She now lives at the tipton, which was part of her deal becoming a Cabaret Singer at the Tipton. She gets the small pay, (probably tips too), a room, and the amenities around the area.

Because Carrie who is zack and cody mom divorce with kurt the dad is zack and cody dad kurt have a band that goes on tour carrie got the job in the tipton and she need to pay the bill because they live in a hotel that is why she buy zack and cody skateboard and basketball cheap

because whats her name (zach and codys mom) got a devorce and they needed to find a place to live and they cant aford the house
to the people above, first she doesn't work there and 2nd they didn't find out that she could sing till about the 5th episode!

well because the mom and dad got devorced, and they needed a place to live (they lived at their grandmas for awhile) and then the mom--carrie--needed a job, and she found one at the Tipton Hotel, so they just decided to live there....
