Be polite and courteous. Use proper grammar. Learn as much as possible about your prospective employer. As you speak, smile. This will be reflected in your voice. Remeber to get, and write down your interviewer's name. This is so that you may send him a note thanking him or her for taking the time to interview you. Make a list of possible questions, which you may have.
Questions that may be asked; How you heard about the position? What are your strengths, weaknesses?. Where do you see yourself, in the company, in five years? What can you add to the company, if they hire you? These are some of the more standard questions.

Answer the questions honestly. If you're not honest and you are hired, you'll probably end up getting fired because you won't be able to handle the job.

Be prepared to:
1. Explain what you are looking for in a job
2. What related experience you've had
3. Why you are looking for a job
4. Why you left your previous job
5. What you didn't like about your previous job

If asked how much you want to earn:

Either say it's negotiable or turn the question around and ask what does the position pay. If you really want the job & you are open regarding the pay, don't turn the question around, just say you are open.

Keep track the questions that you had a hard time answering or you didn't like the way you answered them and find a better answer for the next interview.

Lastly, join a networking group that offers interview role playing.

Good luck.

If it is at all possible, have the interview in person unless that is what the potential employer is requesting. They like to see you when they talk to you and get a better feel of who you are. And no matter what they ask you, tell the truth. A foreseen ? would be have you ever been convicted of a crime. If you have tell them what and why. That is also a trick ? to some. Ive seen people answer yes when they did not have a conviction, however they did have an arrest. One more thing , never tell a boss or a potential boss after he/she tells you something, "I know". Say yes or ok. Hope I could help.

It will be more "conversational" than a regular interview, but they;l ask all the usal questions... Tell me a little about yourself; what do you beleive your strong points / best assets are; what do you know about / how did you hear of our company; why do you want to work for us; what was your favorite subjest in school/college; what do you like to in your spare time;

It will flow on it's own... just relax

Prepare by clearing the room where the phone is of any distractions (pets, TV, close the drapes/blinds, even newspapers or magazines). Get rid of or turn off ANYTHING that makes noise. Have your resume in your hand... they'll have it! Keep your voice upbeat, and avoid sounding monotone or down. You'll have no facial expressions or hand gestures to help you. Don't necessarily speak slow, just don't talk too fast....

Good Luck!!!

I hear my site manager do phone interviews all the time. The questions he asks are usually...Tell me about yourself, a good answer here is to talk very briefly about family and then move into educational and professional highlights. They are next probably going to ask about your qualifications. Make sure you have things written down like what computer programs you know, what certificates you have, names and numbers of references, your availability, salary recommendations, former supervisor names and numbers. It is always a good idea to ask at least one questions at the end of the interview. If you can't think of anything at the end and good question is to ask about the dress code!!
Good Luck!!

Treat the interview as if you there in person. Probably be asked to explain your background, the usual questions.
