I was talking to someone the other day and they said "the best way to know if a town is good to live in is to see if they have strip clubs, adult stores, and pawn shops."

I don't know if I believe that entirely or not. What do you think? Is a town poor because they have strip clubs and pawn shops? Why do you answer the way you do?

Strippers demand that dollar bills be placed in their G Strings and Thongs. If you are poor you cannot afford to place dollar bills in the G Strings or Thongs of Strippers.

Therefore it logically follows that a town must have a core of economically sucessful citizens in order to support strip clubs.

Well sadly, I can see a little logic there. Guy goes to strip club, spends lots of cash, goes to the adult store buys some movies to jack off, guy just wasted half his check and rent is due tomorrow, Time to pawn off an item.

OK but seriously those places are everywhere. Poverty comes from poor schooling which leads to crap jobs so they have no choice but to live in poverty with the family they start. They have kids and the cycle goes on. If their lucky they might pass, get into college, and have a better life. Or if their parents can get them out of poverty and into better schooling.

That does not make to much sense to me , I don't know to many poor people that are going to throw money away in a strip club , I not sure what a pawn shop has to due with it either way , I am curious to see some of the answers .

They're usually located in the "bad" sections of town.

This is because people in richer neighborhoods have enough pull with the city council and pay enough property taxes that the strip clubs *must* be zoned to poorer neighborhoods, where there isn't much for jobs or property values. Moralists think that will shame or scare men into not going, too.

oh hell yeah
any city with any strip clubs is the lowest of lows. Disgusting gross poverty just lurking around every corner. Like the town of the living dead. People panhandling like roaches around your car.
All the girls are infested with super VD's. Some VD now originated from strip clubs. Just touching the chairs in the place would give you the crabs. Adult stores are just spreading all sin and shame to the city. Now pawn shops I figured them out the other day. Its like the robin hood theory. Rob from the rich, sell the goods and give to POPEYES CHICKEN.
yeah thats right
I am one smart cracker!

Well I don't consider San Francisco a poor town by any means. I think that if they have entertainment of this kind means there is a variety of things to do whether you enjoy that type of entertainment or not.

The 'someone' who was speaking was of course referring to a relative measurement of 'good to live in'.

It's probably safe to assume that other criteria the speaker considers good indicators include many poorly-secured banks, drive-thru gun shops, and a good mud flats for 'tearin' it up' in their Chevy.

As someone else noted, more affluent communities take zoning measures to ensure such businesses (and their 'shady' clientele) stay on the far side of the tracks.
