Good for you! If you are not familiar with many current bands, listen to: 3 Days Grace, Puddle Of Mudd, System Of A Down, Maroon 5, Seether, Collective Soul, Trapt, Audioslave and Velvet Revolver. For past classic bands check out Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Van Halen, White Zombie, Soundgarden and Nirvana. I can't leave out the classic metal bands: Metallica & Megadeth. For Punk Rock you might like the Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Ramones, The New York Dolls, Green Day, Dead Kennedys, The Descendents, Circle Jerks and Social Distortion. Of course I can't leave out one of the all time greats: Aerosmith!

Welcome, my friend, to the show that never ends.

I had a friend who I tried to get into Pink Floyd for 15 years without success. Then one day he met me in the pub, and told me he'd 'discovered' them. I told him he'd just wasted 15 years of his life listening to pop music. He is now a HUGE rock fan.

Recommendations (in no particular order):

Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin II - Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin III - Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin IV - Led Zeppelin
Physical Graffiti - Led Zeppelin
Don't Believe the Truth - Oasis
Hot Fuss - The Killers
Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
Hopes and Fears - Keane
Is There Anybody Out There? - Pink Floyd
A Rush of Blood to the Head - Coldplay
Comfort in Sound - Feeder
The Bends - Radiohead
Employment - Kaiser Chiefs
Achtung Baby - U2

Something in there to please everyone. Some of it's not too 'rocky', you don't want to rush these things. Enjoy the party.

Tastes do change but the rap scene has become stale as of late.. Same recycle of a few beats as of late with different words... I know a few who moved to new rock for the new style of bass and drum lines and plus the soccer moms now get into eminem and JayZ so it ain't as cool as back in the day...

When I was 15, (Im 29 now) I had very bad taste in music, I liked everything that was in the chart. A fellow work colleague once said your tastes will change and you will realise what REAL music is. I laughed and continued buying sh** records. Then one day, I was about 21/22 years of age, I realised what real music was - real drums - real guitars - real lyics that meant something - that day changed my life - and you have become of age! Lol - corny but true! Embrace the rock!

no- you in fact, do not like to rock. I'm aware of my elitism here- you do not choose rock and roll, rock and roll chooses you and if you're so naive to think that you have to change your musical choices rather than just expand them, rock and roll would not have chosen you. I will be releasing a newsletter to let everyone know what else rock and roll thinks in a few weeks.
