(-: I'm kind of partial to the "cutie" witch. A little, tiny witches hat, set on the side of the head like a beret, and held in place with bobby pins. Makeup a little on the heavy side. Little black cocktail dress -- preferably with sequins or sparklies. Heels or ballet flats. Madonna gloves (with the fingers cut out). Big pink accents, like a pink bow on the hat, or a pink skull 'n' cross bones on the back of a black vest.

Really depends on the effect you are going for. Do you want to be scary, mysterious, stylish or cute?

The best witch ever (in film) was the wicked witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz. So, go for something ragged in black, with striped stockings, green ugly make-up, a ragged black cape, and a big pointed black hat. Carry a good witch broom. If you can't find one, make one out of a 1" wooden dowel, about 3-4 ft long, with small twigs tied tightly around one end. (That's how folks used to make their own brooms.)

If you don't own a black skirt and blouse you can make ragged, hit the thrift stores! Get creative. You may also be able to find those ugly shoes you can put a big buckle on. The buckles you can make from cardboard covered in foil. Glue or tape or tie them securely to the shoes.
