I was transferred to an exclusive division of my company about 8 months ago. Everyone has worked there 10 years or more. I am feeling exploited by the woman I share an office with. She leaves EVERY day about 2-3 before the office closes. We are salaried so it doesn't affect her attendance or paycheck but it annoys me to no end. Sometimes it gets hectic and since I'm fairly new, sometimes I have to stay late to finish things that could have been done if she had been there. Our boss has apparently talked to her about it because where she was doing it every day, now she only does it when he's not around. He has made it clear that we should work out our absences between ourselves and leave him out of it. She has her kids and husband call saying they need her to come to school, etc. and leave work. We work very closely and share an office so I don't want to cause tension. How do I handle it?

We work holidays but just until we get basic things done and then we can leave. The rule is we have to leave together. On July 4th, she left me there for 2 hours while she went shopping. I got my work done and had to sit there and wait for her to finis when she got back. 2 hours I could have spent with my family if she had stayed and finished earlier.

I haven't actually gone to the boss. I just made sure he saw how hectic it gets and that she is needed there. Once he asked where she was. I said she left, he wanted to know why, I said I didn't know. He looked mad. She's been getting sick al;ot since then.
