how do I stop windows internet explorer from preventing me to get adobe reader?

i work on a help desk and had a problem with this earlier tonight actually. if it just gives you a white screen then go into control panel and add/remove programs and make sure you don't have any other versions of Adobe installed except for 7.0. Once it is installed alone, they should open fine. Other than that I would need you to clarify what you mean by "preventing you from getting it."
