Canada is a constitutional monarchy and a Commonwealth Realm, with Queen Elizabeth II as its reigning monarch, since February 6, 1952. As such she is Canada's head of state and officially called Queen of Canada.

Most of the Queen's political powers in Canada are exercised by the Governor General, though she does hold several powers that are hers alone. The Governor General is sometimes referred to as Canada's de facto head of state.

From what I understand, no. Canada has their own Parliament with a Prime Minister who is the actual head of State (similar to Britain). I do believe, however, that Canada does still recognize the Queen of England as a figurative head of State. This is one reason the Canadian Navy ships are designated "HMCS" for Her Majesty's Canadian Ship.

The Queen of England doesn't even influence policy matters in England. Elected representatives do that. But she is titular head of state of the United Kingdom and of Canada.

She's head of State but it's more ceremonial than anything. She would have influence in a major war, commonwealth states fought w. Great Britain from the beginning of WW1 and 2 out of principal and the connection where as colonies that broke away like the US waited years until attacked and declared war on by the Japanese in the latter.
