*Try gently rubbing her tummy, with 1-2 fingers, in a clockwise motion to help the gas move along.
*You can try Mylecon, but it will only work if the gas is still in her stomach- like you can still burp it out. If it has moved to her intestines, then it will not work. Some people claim it will still work, but that's only because it contains small amounts of seditives and could help baby fall asleep.
*Put her in a sitting postion and bicycle her legs. It could help get the gas moving so that she can pass it.
*Hold her on your forearm or on your knees so that there's pressure on her abdomen. Google the "Colic Carry."
*It could be acid reflux. It usually doesn't onset until about 2 weeks postpartum. Try to see if she prefers to be more upright than lying down on her back

The over the counter meds didn't work for my son. You can try it, but I would try other approaches first.
Keep the baby upright as much as possible. A sling or baby carrier is great for this, you and your partner can wear her around during the day. Also keep her upright at least 30 minutes after feeding her.
Pump her legs like she's riding a bycycle, and give her a gentle belly massage rubbing in a clockwise position.
Most important isfinding the cause of the gas. It usually is something that passes through the breastmilk. For my son, it was wheat and dairy mostly. Have the mom (not sure if you are dad or mom) cut out all dairy and wheat for awhile and see if this is the problem. Then you can slowly re-introduce them and see if it gets worse again. It could also be nuts, eggs, or soy. It sounds like a pain in thebutt, but it's really worth it.
He also might be gulping the milk too fast, thus swallowing air. If this is the case mama can try nursing lying on her side so baby can let extra milk spill out her mouth. Also, if mama has pretty active let down (initial flow of milk) she might want to let it stream out into a cup or sink for a few seconds before latching baby on.
If you do decide to try giving her something while you try to find the cause of the gas, I recommend either gripe water, which has fennel and ginger in it and can help soothe the stomach, or colic tablets, a homeopathic remedy that also eases gas. Both of these are usually found at natural foods markets, or even regular ones like Albertsons or Safeway in either the baby section or the natural foods section. The colic tablets REALLY helped my son while I got the wheat and dairy out of my system.
Edited to add: their digestive system usually matures around 4-6 months so the often can handle wheat and dairy in the breastmilk better by then. My 7 month old has no sensitivities anymore. Oh! and broccoli, beans, etc. can also cause gas in baby throug breastmilk.

You can go out and by mylicon gas drops, or what I used to do is put the baby in a car and ride em around untill she falls asleep in the carseat, bring it in and let her sleep in it. Or sometimes you can turn the dryer on and set a bouncy set or a car seat on it and the vibrations will calm her to sleep. Last but not least try the bicycle motion move her legs back and forth like a bicycle peddle againt her tummy this will help move the gas.. Good Luck I have been there is gets frustrating just remember to stay calm, if your nerves get frazzled put her in her crib and shut the door for just a few minutes and calm yourself. As long as she is fed and changed a little crying wont hurt her, I know this sounds hard but a person can only take so much of a screaming baby...I really hope this helps.....

put your baby on your lap in a sitting position facing sideways. Put your hand under the babies chin supporting head and kneck. Gently lean the baby forward and back(like the baby is leaning forward) his is a gentle way to help move the gas. Also don't be afraid to burp the baby.. Sometimes people don't pat hard enough to help. I think you check w/ the dr before trying drops at such a young age. Aldo if it continues there may be an issue with what the baby is eating. If you are breast feeding avoid any gassy foods. If bottle feeding the playtex nurser is a nice nipple that they don't get too much air. Don't hesitate to complain to the dr. My baby cried for the first 4 mos. She never smiled till she was 4 mos old and I finally got the dr to give me the mylicon drops. They use to be by prescription only. Looking back I wish I had complained more so the dr understood the severity of it.

They make a gas drop for babies called "mylicon" also, if you go to the natural food stores, they have something called "grip water" which is the same, but an "Au Natural" version. Also, if you "pump" your baby (move her legs in a cycling motion as if she were riding a bike, and/ or do leg lifts by pushing her legs toward her then pulling them outward) it may help... You didnt say if your wife was breastfeeding or not? If she is, it may be what your wife has eaten. (spicy foods, over fiberous foods give gas, basically, anything that gives your wife gas, will also give your baby gas) If the wife is not breastfeeding, perhaps it is your formula?
If it seems as if her crying may never stop, go see her pediatrician, perhaps she is colicy or needs some assistance?

Medication for a baby so small is always the last resort and you should consult a dr. on what he/she reccomends and what the dosage should be. Walk the floor with her and rub her back gently in an upward motion (this may take a few hours) do NOT rub down. Just up. You can rub her tummy in a circular motion. If you need to lay her down on the couch with your legs spread around her and push her legs gently up toward her tummy so that she's kinda in a cross legged fashion. Do this a few times... she may spit up a bit but it'll help her get the gas out. But please do not ever medicate one so small without physician approval.

It is natural for babies to cry, even at night. If you wanted to sleep you shouldn't have created a baby. There is no indication from your post that the baby has gas other than you "THINK" the baby has gas because baby is crying, ALL babies cry, they cry when they are wet, they cry when they are hungry, they cry when they want to be held, they cry when they are bored, they cry when they don't feel good, they cry when they are too hot, they cry when they are too cold, they cry when they are tired. What makes you think it's gas and not one of the dozens of things that it can be. And quit YOUR whining about no sleep...

First thing to do is relax. Is this your first baby? They can pick up on the tension you feel, and it can make them feel insecure. The next thing is to get comfortable...in a recliner, or lying down on the sofa with pillow under your head...nice and comfy. Lay baby face down on your chest, with his or her head over your heart. If it is gas, your body warmth will help move it, and the sound of your beating heart will be soothing. You just can't hold babies enough.

First of all you should try some sort of anti gas medication. Do you have any? Mylicon for example?
Have you tried putting her on something warm. Using a dryer while it was in motion on my daughter's stomach worked wonders for me.
Try rolling up some baby blankets the long way, and put her on her stomach on them.
Those methods worked for me. :)

Or it could be anything baby cry for a reason best thing to do do is see your doctor they can check her up then diagnosed properly. and if your doctor will tell you that there's nothing wrong with her find another doctor, it happened to me being a first time mom we don't know what to do, when I went to see a doctor he said he is just being naughty and nothing's wrong with him but the crying didn't stop so I went to another doctor it turned out he had a very severe ear infection already, and that stupid doctor that told me my baby is just being naughty I never saw him again.
