on my application or resume?? I have had a lot of previous employers and did not stay over a year with most, that is why I am asking. I'd like to remove some of them from my work history.

It is possible. There are outside agencies that companies can hire to do background checks of applicants. These can include job histories. I believe the applicant signs a release or they're informed that it will be done.

no, they can not find out, UNLESS someone you do list tells the company you are applying with, that you stopped employment to start employment at ________.
If you remove some of the employers, you may have to explain to the potential employer the gaps of time in between jobs, be prepared to explain these gaps.

Such things are available for purchase if an employer cares.

You can't remove your work history.
