The liquid is slightly warm, but not hot. I noticed this after the car was parked for about 5 minutes after a 30 minute drive in local traffic. After trying to locate the exact source of the leak, I noticed the liquid dripping off the frame. The spot on the ground is on the passenger side, approx the size of a cupcake, approx 3-4 inches away from the engine, and about 2-3 inches in front of the front wheel. The fluid levels were all checked and are within the normal range. The car typically runs fine, a little rough at an idle on occasion and gas mileage has decreased by about 100 miles/tank over the last year. It doesn't overheat, and is driven daily. It was suggested that it's a possible leaking head gasket. Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful as I am on an extremely tight budget, and I don't want to spend money on useless repairs.

It's a 3.0L V-6 engine. The cruise, a/c and all the accessories work just fine. As far as I know, it's the original engine. I bought it used from a Ford dealer about 3 years ago. I can't check repair records on it since the dealership has gone out of business.

You have a oil leak you need to check the valve cover gasket to see if is leaking.

yeah, it sounds like a head gasket to me. Depending on which type of engine you have in it will determine the difficulty of finding this out and how much it will cost as well. I had a 95 Taurus with a similar problem. My head gasket actually blew on me and put my car out of commision. I really suggest getting that fixed, it will save you money in gas and oil changes in the long run. A decrease of 100 miles/tank is horrible. It's really a pain in the butt to fix it yourself, even though that's what I did doue to lack of funds to get it fixed somewhere else.

It is probably, it is a ford, old fords spew oil after a few years, probably head gasket. If you have more than 50000 miles it is likely the head gasket.
Try a tuneup to deal with the mileage issues.

Might want to check your oil pan and also the head gasket. I would check the oil pan first though.
