Sheik Taj Aldin Alhilali, the most senior Australian Mulim Cleric today likened women to "Pieces of Meat, waiting to be eaten by animals."
"If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it ... whose fault is it, the cats or the uncovered meat? The uncovered meat is the problem. If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab (islamic headdress), no problem would have occurred."
He also commented that women who don't cover themselves up in headdresses and traditional Muslim womens' attire are inviting themselves to be raped and sexually abused, and it is not the males fault, but the woman that he raped.
I am NO racist. But this is disgusting. Women deserve to be treated and spoken about with more respect and understanding than this; Muslim or not. This really boiled my blood. Does this bug anyone else? I'd like to hear Muslim's point of views on this too

I am not a Muslim. Although my culture may be different then yours, I too find these comments to be absolutely degrading and disgusting to women. I believe that women have more of a purpose on this earth than for the pleasure of men. Men should respect all women and not feel that it is ok to just "help themselves" to a women who is not completely covered.

I think it is appalling and it shows that there is a need in Australia to get cultures to join together and that there are extremists Muslims out there. I think if one girl gets raped because of his comment he should stand trial as being an accesory to the fact.
I am appalled by this. We know it happens though because when the Cronulla riots were on girls in bikinis were getting called sl$ts. I understand we are two different cultures but when you are Australian you live the Australian way.
If we were to go over there we would have to cover up and so forth. So over here they can adopt to our ways of walking around half naked because that is what we do and because of the weather.
I can't believe that he now says that he meant it only about Prostitutes. Even if that is their profession they do not deserved to be raped. I am in agreeance that he should be deported etc. I know someone else will just take over from him but maybe he won't be as bad - this guy has said one to many comments like that.
I believe this is a nasty comment at Australians and I also believe he is going to cruel it for his own people because it just incites the violence again. I am peeved majorly but I am not about to go out and attack the innocent. I'd rather see action taken against him.

Hijab is a very touchy subject when it comes to this but this man was probably trying to prove a point. I admit that he maybe going a bit overboard but the point he was trying to get across was about vunerabilty. It's not that all women go out asking to be raped, it's just that if you go out dressed in a way that makes you vulnerable it becomes unsafe, and noone else is to blame but the women who chose to dress that way. Not all women even do hijab nowadays but the ones who choose to are only protecting themselves. I do agree that women need to be heard and Muslim women aren't required to cover their head 24/7. It's only something you wear when your are outside or among strangers, but when your with your friends or in your home, you don't need to.

i saw this on the news today and thought the comment was disgusting. no matter what race women should not be treated this way or spoken about this way.these countries unfortunately have some different cultures to us and we find it very difficult to understand there ways. but it is true, most women are treated as 2nd class citizens. i am sure i would not lkie to live in these countries and to live this way. yes a muslim womans perspective to this answer would be good. i will watch to see if one comes up.

Well, Whatever sheikh told is been told in Islam. well, someone said about Saudi Arabia in this discussion and someone said that Western man dosent rape muslim women. Well this is not particular to muslim or christian. It is all about humanity and if women feel disgusted then she should think twice about this matter. Go out one day in full and not vulgar dress and pass by the mens and boys. You will know the difference. It is better to experience it by self rather then commenting on someone. I stay in Saudi Arabia and all my Western Expats (american, bitish, irish, south africans, australians, canadians and other) they feel safe in saudi arabia rather than their own country. Can you let you kid go out after 8 pm in night in your locality. here you can and with safe. Muslims dosent fear of humans, they fear of Allah. If any muslims rape or do something bad. they can go scot free if no one sees them but they know that one day they have to die and give answer to Allah. Here in Saudi Arabia If you rape a women or kill any one. You will have to go thru capital punishment.Nobody is spared even the higher authority of the country.

Muslim religion is a joke built on misinterpretation and all that follow it are just caught up in a cult of mass proportion and to the man that made the comments in Australia I think he should go back where he came from and do that **** there, they adopt other countries, countries don't adopt them...........

I was in Saudi Arabia for 4 months. If this shocks you, go there...this statement is par for the course.....
I have so many stories of stuff I saw over there, it was amazing! What a confused country and lifestyle.
Don't be surprised by these statements....just realize that we are in deep crap if this is our enemy!

The fact that our government won't do anything about these disgusting ideas/teachings means that the muslims will take over this whole world one day and that's just what they want.
