I just had a new battery sent to me from Dell... it's the right one, it fits and it shows in the battery bar that it is at 38% but it's not charging. I just got it. The little icon at the bottom by the clock (on windows) shows that the computer is running on AC power... but it should (as it has in the past) be running on AC power, but also be charging the battery at the same time. I tried shutting off the computer and it still wont seem to charge. Any suggestions?? Tips?

Well if it's a new laptop, there's only one solution, keep calling Dell until they offer you satisfaction.

I've seen how they do business lately and they should be told how unsatisfying their service is!

Try getting your Adapter Checked......Or Else Goto the Nearest DELL Service Center and Show them the Problem.......Try the Battery with Some Other LAPTOP of the Same MODEL.......If it Charges in his Machine then i Guess it is the Problem with the Connecter of your LAPTOP.......Better to Get it Checked with the DELL People.

Sounds like the battery isn't connecting properly. Try taking the battery out and reinstalling it making sure it's connecting properly. If it still won't charge you may have gotten a bad battery. Call Dell and complain.

Talk to Dell. It's still under warranty. Could be more than the battery. If you bought it at a place that offers service, your dealer may be able to repair it at his shop.
