Ok now I know that for knockout round if goals cannot decide it then its extra time and penalties
the thing is say Real Madrid vs Roma. First game at Madrid 1-1, then its a draw. Second game at Rome 1-1 again, but obviously they need to decide who go on so they play extra time and penalties, the thing is. Don't that mean Roma have home field advantage now? Because the first game at Madrid there is no extra time, if it's a draw its a draw, but if nessacary second game can have extra time. So the format isn't really fair is it since the team that host the second game has got to be consider home field advantage holders in some instances.

That same rule applies to most football cup games. It used to be decided by a toss of the coin, would you prefer that.

I know what your saying however home advantage is what the first team had and couldn't win so the second team then has the opportunity for penalties if they again draw after second game and extra time.

And you can bet the penalties will be taken in the goal nearest to the home teams fans.

Using your theory do you think it be fair that all teams play at a neutral ground just once to a finish?

Such, which is why they call it 'Home Advantage". If you were to analyse most games you will note that the opposing team on the first leg (playing away) will always be happy with a draw! if it is a 1-1 draw, they will have an away goal advantage. Most of the time, if an away team scores one goal, they will always push for a second! That makes the game more interesting.

The key is good tactics. . .The luck comes in second!

The team with the best record in the league stages is always at home in the second leg, so they get the advantage of having had better results earlier in the competition.

You're right it isn't really fair but then again the home advantage didn't do them much good for the 90 minutes of ordinary play.. and of course they need to get a result without it going to the fiasco of playing umpteen replays on neutral grounds

That's the luck of the draw. Second leg at home can be an advantage.
