its no fair!! my 17th birthday is in november and my father told me hes not buying me a new car. this girl on sweet 16 on mtv got a mercades so why cant i get one? do my parents not love me?

Your parents love you, but they have one problem. They have raised a spoiled brat!!! If you want something, go to work and earn it! Quit expecting Mommy and Daddy to give you all the finer things in life. The only things that your parents have to provide you with is food, basic (wal mart type) clothing and shelter. Anything else you get is a bonus.
Quit whining!!!

A dad speakin here....
They love you enough that they will require you to drive the family minivan, and then only with permission. Kids with their own cars have their grades go into the toilet in a hurry, and tend to do things in their car that parents know will lead to reallll trouble.
Eventually, your parents need to HELP YOU BUY a "starter car." This is a car that you buy for $1000, is slower'n a school bus, and twice as ugly. This is the car that teaches you about funny engine noises, tire wear, checking the oil, and what happens if you follow too closely when it's snowing outside. Once you learn to appreciate that piece o' sh*t, you're almost ready to have your own car. You certainly will value that second car a lot more, and will take much better care of it.
And, what is "fair" about you driving a nice 'Benz, and people like me who work for a living and pay for food and shelter for a 17 year old girl have to drive a 1998 VW? You might be daddy's little princess, but in the real world, you're just an unemployed teen.

Are you for real? How could you even think your dad would by you a Mercedes just because you want one? What would make you think that just because someone on Sweet 16 has a Mercedes means your dad will buy you one as a birthday present? I really hope you were joking! If not, words don't express how ridiculous you're being right now!

That is a wonderful thing that the parents are doing. It is called trust. Do you have driving experience in extreme situations? A Mercedes has around 3500 bolts that keep the car together and it only takes an inexperienced teen driver to..... send that car to the junkyard and injure or kill innocent drivers or themselves. No, i am not saying you can't drive. I am sixteen myself and getting my license in November. That is why my parents make me drive a geo prizm 1997. Don't be mad. Some people can't even afford a car nevermind a mercedes.

I'm sure your parents love you very much. The girls on that Sweet 16 show are very spoiled and their parents do not show them love the appropriate way. They will grow up very disappointed or angry later on in life. You, on the other hand, will get to experience what it is like to work hard, be loved and respected, and how to appreciate things. Your parents DO love you or else they WOULD buy you that Mercedes "just because" you asked....

They probably don't want to get you a new car until they're sure your driving skills are at a good enough level. My friend got a brand new Mustang for her 18th birthday and promptly crashed it the next week.
Plus they could just be saying that to trick you, parents are like that...

ok seeking attention are you? maybe your parents can't afford a new mercedes. maybe you don't deserve it. just because someone you know got something do you think you have to have one too just to be part of the crowd? Be yourself...accept that your parents do love you and don't be so greedy. This is only my opinion...but for you to feel this way...I think you are only thinking of yourself and not of anyone else...honey...if you keep this attitude...you are destined for a life time of dissapointment...accept what you get and be grateful that you have parents to give it to you....so many others don't have anything.
