Sometimes. It's not foolproof - and it definitely should NOT be used as a method of birth control alone. It's not safe to take the morning after pill very many times, it's only to be used in cases of EMERGENCIES.

use a condom you lazy idiotic woman an stop letting him use as a semen dump . Tell him if he wants to ride this ride use a condom or get your lazyass on the pill.. You don't want to get pregnant well u shouldn't even been having sex.. i just don't quite understand women like u who just let men dictate what methods of u can use. If he loves you like he says he does then tell him to put on a condom get your control back don't get so weak that he's running the show.. Women go through so much hell to get pregnant and your dumbass want to use a morning after pill like you were date raped or something its just a cheap pill for 50bucks and is cheaper way of an abortion .. Show that man the door OK!! he not worth risking ya health from sex for diseases which should be more important than worrying about pregnancy ..At least with pregnancy you have the child for the rest of your life .. But AIDS you have a good -5-10 yrs to live if you can afford the med's. Then the other ST D's make you infertile and can cause birth effects if you do happen to get pregnant and are contaminated by your promiscuous male mate . Think before you do some dumb juvenile stuff

Maybe, maybe not. The morning after pill is an abortive. It does NOT prevent fertilization of an ovum it attempts to prevent implatation of a fertilzied ovum. It is a mini abortion in pill form and at best is only about 85% effective when taken EARLY enough and then taking the recuring one at the specified time. Even if you're on regular birth control and have unprotected sex you run a very good risk of getting pregnant, not to mention gettin an STD, contracting genital herpes (you can get this even if you are protected because it is skin to skin contact that spreads this disease) or HIV.

They are called 'morning after' pills for a reason, because they are meant for the morning after. This is an illogial choice and I'm positive there would be side effects. Besides, what's wrong with using a condom or other form of birth control?

you can take the morning after pill up to 72 hours after unprotected sex, but the pill costs almost $50, it's a lot cheaper to buy condoms

yes, but its less effective than birth control...its about 80 percent effective versus regular BC which is 98 percent. Also, you shouldnt use the morning after pill as your regular BC method. Use condoms or get a prescription for the daily pill...good luck and be safe.

1. What is emergency contraception?

Emergency contraception is a method of preventing pregnancy to be used after a contraceptive fails or after unprotected sex. It is not for routine use. Drugs used for this purpose are called emergency contraceptive pills, post-coital pills, or morning after pills. Emergency contraceptives contain the hormones estrogen and progestin (levonorgestrel), either separately or in combination. FDA has approved two products for prescription use for emergency contraception – Preven (approved in 1998) and Plan B (approved in 1999).

That's true, but you should not have unprotected sex, the day after pill does not protect against STD's!!!

It works most of the time. It's better to prevent it with "safe sex." If you are "life conscious," you may not want to consider it. It does not stop you from conceiving. It makes the womb incompatible and will miscarry the fertile egg, but not 100% of the time.
