I have washed them three times. When I check on them in the dryer, they smell musty and "funky".

I also have noticed that my washer is constantly making my clothes smell musty; I've tried running bleach through the washer but it seems like it only works for the next load of clothes, after that the clothes get the musty smell again.

Set your washer on small load and add a small box of baking soda after it has filled with water and run it through a cycle.
Also have your hoses checked/cleaned.

If your clothes smell add the baking soda to your washload.

Maybe a sock or some underwear went behind the tub and has gone moldy or something. You may need to hire someone to come and have a look. Bleach or vinegar should remove all bad smells unless there is ROT.

Try adding vinegar to your rinse cycle. Also check your drain hose. There might be something clogging it and that could be causing the musty smell.

Give the machine a real good clean, with a hot wash.

Use fabric softner in the rinse cycle for a fresh smell.

Ps .......my nanna used to throw a can of coke in a emmpty wash cycle every now and then to clean her machine and apparently it worked a treat!
