Two observations:

1) most old stamp collections are worth much less than their owners think they are. A stamp that sold for five cents fifty years ago is probably still worth five cents. But there are exceptions. The problem is that knowing which stamps are worth more takes some education. Either you'll have to educate yourself or pay for someone's time to evaluate what you have.

2) The very best information I have seen on this subject is at http://www.virtualstampclub.com/inherit.html - lots of solid good advice there. And, no, it's not my site.

I don't collect stamps unless they kind of go with coins I collect. Your best bet is to go to a stamp dealer. You can check EBay to get some pricing but since you have so many a dealer is your best bet. There is a stamp paper out there called Linn's stamp, I have seen it listed in coin papers but know little about it, maybe you can find it, at a dealers store. It will have people who buy listed in it. Sorry I can't be of more help.
