I think, first of all, that we need our pesident to concentrate on the state of things here at home. Though I understand that we are needed to stand up for the weaker in our international community, I also believe that we don't stand a chance of continuing to do so unless we first change the declining state of our nation. Our children are getting fatter, lazier, apathetic, and quite frankly, stupider. Our national education standards need to be reformed, and I would like a president to make that a priority. The healthcare crisis in our country is reaching an all-time high, with children being the ones left behind.I would like our future president to be concerned for them. I would like someone genuine and refreshing as far as politicians are concerned. Someone that cares deeply for this nation enough to help her escape this dependence we have on foriegn oil and other non-renewable resources. Someone with a passion for our land and it's future generations. I would like someone that believes that everyone has the right to family, regardless of religious beliefs, and that unconventional families should not be judged by others. I want someone that loves our constitution, what it stands for and what it should continue to stand for. I wish for a president that would motivate the people to care for each other, rather than resort to petty bickering, to teach the nation to act in unison for peacable goals. I guess I want another Teddy Roosevelt, modernized for this generation.
I would also like his cabinet to be qualified for the positions they hold (i.e. former teachers/principals/supers for the Dept. of Education, environmental scientists for epa, park rangers for D.O.I, etc.) rather than buddies and totally inappropriate people (i.e. oil lobbyists/pollution protection activists in D.O.I vis a` vis Bush)

I want a President who will work on this country first, then worry about others. The time of the American hand helping out everyone needs to stop. Worry about ourselves first, get this country back in working order. Help OUR poor and hungry. Help OUR homeless. Take our troops out of Iraq, let them fight it out amongst themselves, let them destroy themselves. Use those troops to protect our borders and people from terrorists. Make the American dollar the most valuable in the world again. Last but not least, tell the TRUTH. Does such a word exist in our government? There is a reason Bush's popularity is below 35%, we can't trust a word that comes out of that man's mouth. Put the trust back in our country.

For him OR her to be a true leader. Not an empty suit or "manager" but a leader. Someone along the caliber of Churchill, MLK, Lincoln, Roosevelt, etc. Im apathetic to politics these days and that is the only thing that would make me want to head to the polls on election day.

Did you ever see that movie "Dave" with Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver? A real, every day businessman would make me happy. And it would be great if he actually called in a real, live accountant to help with the budget issues. Although it was just a movie, it's one of my favorites, because, what if.....real people who actually gave a damn ran things....
