Speak is a good book. It is about a girl's high school life after being raped.

get a copy of the bachman books (written by stephen king under the name richard bachman)... they are not typical king, not really blood-and-guts disgusting, and could very well happen in real life... they are 4 short books in 1 volume, not really connected, but very chilling... 1 of the books is the running man, which is really quite scary if it came true... but my favourite is the long walk about a walking marathon for young boys that if they fall below a certain speed they are killed...
out of everything i have read by king, these are my favourites and always go back to them when i cant find anything else to read...
or read the godfather by mario puzo... this book tops my all time list of greatest book all the time, and i guarantee you will never watch the movies again after reading this...

I'd like to recommend a non-fiction (an autobiography) entitled, "The Periodic Table" by Primo Levi and you'd love it, his narrative and his presentation style's unique and readable. I enjoyed it from page 1 till the end, he's someone like a genius.

"Dolores Claiborne" by Stephen King. It is about an abused housewife who murders her husband. The movie is pretty good too.
"Misery" is also a good book. It is about a novelist (Paul Sheldon) who is badly injured in a car accident, and is rescued by his "biggest fan" (Annie Wilkes). The part of the book that involves a sledgehammer is really brutal.

one of my all time fav book is "Flowers in the Attic" by V. C. Andrews. you can find it anywhere (even cvs!!)
i've gotten macho men to love it, many people have cried. i think it's a beautifully written book (and a movie was made out of it)
if you like it i would recommend the 2nd part "Petals on the Wind" there are 5 parts .... i've read 3 1/2.... but the 2 first ones are ....... dunno i can't compare them to anything....
