It depends on how you measure success. Without Aristotle, I wonder how the Western Civilization would evolved? Confucius in China and all the great religions and their impact on civilization for the last 2000 years? Not everything is measured in money terms, and yet a lot of the prosperity today may have been the results of those thinkers, some of those may have died poor.

i can prove that philosophy major is not a waste of time if you would like a career that pays good money. i'm doing a research on higher learning or the need of higher learning as i was researching some articles i ran across one ebsco host discusses the need for students at college and universities to be multi-talented and study a mix of discipline to solve the problem of today's society rensselar polytechnic institutes information technology program, the program of interdisciplinary studies. example of bioengineering and cognitive science, programs at the university of Penn and universities of Richmond in Virgina, research and interships, the risk of pursing inter discipline study (an2179697) in other words have philosophy and science and it studies you will be rolling in dough don't give up get all the education you wish to take and can afford you won't regret it.

lol...very funny. Can anyone "prove" whether or not something is a waste of time and money? (BTW, If you weren't trying to be facetious...you might want to start with ONE philosophy course before thinking about it as a major)

As soon as I switched majors it did!
Theocratic studies and History! Then to Environmental Science
(don't ask) But I would rather save the physical world we live in for the future, than muse about it!
