ATP from cellular respiration

2006-10-25 13:54:13 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

I'm not sure about my answer. This is a really interesting question

The main source of energy in the body might be sugar. The food that you eat is all digested and turned to sugar. This sugar is broken down by pancreatic juice from the pancreas (when the pancreas doesn't produce the fluids to break downt the sugar, this disorder is known diabetes type 1). This sugar is used to feed the cells, thus letting the cells work. That gives you energy.

This question you asked actually made me think. Thanks alot. I learned something and I hope you do. I hope other people are able to answer your question. Maybe I'll learn more. Thanks!

Well, it is the mind. Cause without the mind, the body cannot exist. You just eat food so that you can maintain yourself then it comes out. Who knows what the main energy source is.

technically the main energy source for your body is glucose (sugar). This is broken down and used for ATP production which is what is used to run your body.

ATP formed during cellular respiration from glucose, in the stages of glycolysis, citric acid cycle, and oxidative phosphorylation (which actually produces the most ATP per glucose molecule, about 8 or 9 times more than glycolysis and the citric acid cycle combined).

Your brain is responsible for giving the energy to your body. While many components of your body help to make it function (ie: muscles, nerves, your spinal column, blood, etc.), without the brain as the main "store house" to help make these functions possible the body would be useless and we couldn't live.
