The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I posted links for you in the source box pertaining to starting a business in Texas.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can. Here is a book title that is relevant:

* How to Start a Business in Texas: With Forms by William R. Brown and Mark Warda

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

There is no state exam or license to practice. You only need general business licenses if you plan to open a new company.

You will need to figure out your structure in order to register your company with the secretary of state. You have to decide if you will be a sole proprietorship, a limited company, incorporated, corporation, limited partnership, general partnership, etc. You must register your DBA (company name). You'll also need to look into filing city, state and federal taxes. plus you will have federal requirements if you have employees. The link below should help you and give you more info.

A industry measure might aid plenty. But you don't want something if it's only you and your buddy. If i had been you I might make up varieties to hide your butt incase something occurs with a patron. Remember your taxes and to tax your customers.
