I got flashed about a year ago and never got a ticket in the mail. I've talked to some other people that have been flashed and they never got a ticket either.
Is the camera at lights just there to scare us? or to make examples of a very few people? Has anyone else been flashed and never gotten a ticket?

I have never...however...it has been over 20 yrs since I have been to germany...and I know people who did over there.

Gonna tell you a short story you should appreciate.

In Germany they have had this system in place for many years. I was in the military...this person owed several people money. he wouldn't pay...but he would loan his car out. So one at a time we'd go out and run stop lights...and yes they did take the picture...he got lots of tickets because of it.

isn't that sweet

My husband has gotten two tickets by mail for running red lights in the DC area. I don't think he knew he was getting "flashed." And I've never seen the "flash" your talking about, but I could just be oblivious.

I actually got one a few years ago but that was in Toronto, Canada. I assume you are American. Our systems may be different, there are some cities that have "fake cameras" just to intimidate drivers who notice them, and it actually works. In Toronto they HAD (a law changed the "legality" of the process 2 years later) real ones and you would get a picture of your car showing the license plate number, the date, time and intersection. Sometimes (it was not my case) you actually see yourself, it makes it "very hard" to contest the offense in court.

No, you get them. My boss got one he showed me at work, and I got one a couple years later. I was in Baltimore driving through the city on my way to an Orioles game. They're for real.

Maybe what you saw wasn't a camera. Or maybe it wasn't for catching red light violators.
