The Holy Day of November 1st is All Saint's Day. In New Orleans, we commemorate it by visiting the graves of ancsetors and cleaning them or leaving flowers by them. Catholics go to Mass on that Day. November 2nd is All Souls Day. It used to be a Holy Day but not as much any more.

In some European countries like France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, etc... it is all Saints Day and is a Holiday. People usually go visit the tombs of their deceased family members on that day. The day before is know as All Halloweds Eve (Halloween), the Hallowed being the Saints.
