Habeas Corpus is the right to confront all evidence against you. Destroying it means that you don't have the right to defend yourself against the evidence.

Father Chuck is right. The right to habeas corpus has been denied under the new act to non-US citizens who the Government has shown to be enemy combatants. For instance, that American Taliban, because he was a US citizen, would have had the right to habeas corpus. It would not have done him any good, as he was properly held as an enemy combatant. He is now a federal prisoner.

If it ever gets "destroyed" I guess we'll find out. That is if you are talking about the USA and the rest of the western world. To find out what life is like for a civilian in the middle east, just move there, break a minor law and invoc your right to habeas corpus upon arrest.
God Luck

Well Habeas Corpus mean to have the body or to bring the person forward. Destroying it would mean to disregard it I imagine. But I have never heard that term used before.

The definition is "One of a variety of writs that may be issued to bring a party before a court or judge, having as its function the release of the party from unlawful restraint"
Suspending habeas corpus allows the government to hold a person(s) w/o a charge leaving the person(s) to to held in limbo indefinitely.

Let me see, it is still alive and well and used every day in our courts, so it is not destroyed.
POW never had any habeas rights, they did ot in WWI, WWII , Korea and so on, the idea of giving them more rights was just stupid,
Sadly the liberals who wanted to give POW's rights so they could not be held or that secret informaton would have to be released made this new law needed.
Why the liberal democrats are trying to destroy america and are aiding the terrorist is what I can't understand,

Omg its means you have to have a trial and be convicted to be thrown in jail (not talking about if your like arrested and there for 2 days) So without it they wouldent have to bring you before the "body" they could throw you in jail for no reason really. Though Due process would stop that slightly.
