You're actually a bit tall for the XR80 - however, if you get a good deal on a used one, it's a great starting place for your first few rides.

Once you outgrow it, you'll be able to sell it for the same price you bought it for (they hold their value).

After you've done a bit of riding, you'll find out what kind of terrain you enjoy, and also where you like to ride.

If you spend most of your time on the MX tracks, then you'll really want to look at the two stroke 65cc and 80cc models once you get good at riding the XR. The two stroke motocrosser's lighter weight and better suspension make track riding safer and also easier on the bike's chassis/suspension.

If you trail ride, there's a ton of mellow bikes that are easy to start and ride in the 100cc to 200cc range.

For smooth mellow power, check out the Honda XR/CRF 100, CRF 150 and XR200. Also look at the Yamaha TTR125.

For your height and weight though, the XR80 or XR100 will be a perfect starting point.

ummm if you like going fast and wanna jump, go to the CR,YZ,SX,RM,KX 80. it is a two stoke, and veeeery quick! noone will be able to keep up with you, plus your real light so u can fly far easy off jumps. if you like trails more, then go with a xr100 or possibly the yamaha ttr 125. it is a mix b/t trails and motocross...a fun bike with moderate power!

I would definately reccomend Kawasaki's kx80, it's got a nice powerband, and sits up a little higher than most 80's
