One can revoke the GPA at one's will if one feel that the attorney holder is not watching his interest. But there are some irrevocable instruments which can not be revoked, these are recognised in Britain.

First let me point out that I am not a legal attorney.
Next, it would be most important to determine if this
document specified the duration of a special illness,
or an expiration date. Hopefully it was not granted as
a permanent document (lasting forever).
To terminate this general power of attorney, a certified letter to the holder of record would be required from the grantor. Copies should be filed with the Clerk of the Court in the appropriate county of residence (in the USA), and possibly with any banks having major holdings of record. I think that this would be sufficient, but you should check with a lawyer at your earliest convenience to make sure that I am correct and that this is the complete process you need to go through.
If only one copy of the document was ever issued, the grantor could ask for it (and any/all copies) to be returned. I am not sure how successful that will be.

Yes....does this other person have a copy of the Power of Attorney? If so, just ask for it back and tear it up along with the original. You may want to make up another Power of Attorney naming someone you truely trust.

In general -- Yes, unless the Power of attorney had a "for cause" removal clause. Then it can only be broken for cause.

Absolutely... pretty much the only condition under which it cannot be revoked is if you've been declared incompetent by a court.
