I bought a car on impuse today and decided that I really don't want it. The car is still at the dealership, but it is paid for. I heard from my dad that I have three days back-out and get my money back. Is that true?

There is no right of recision on purchase contracts where you cant return the merchandise in the same condition as it was at the time of purchase. Once you take delivery of a car, miles get put on it. However, you state that the car is still at the dealership so the laws DO apply. If it is finananced, contact the bank and tell them. They will help you, especially if you tell them you found out that insurance will prevent you from making payments! If you paid cash, you have to stand your ground. Just knowing what I have told you WILL help you but the dealership will probably be a pain to deal with. They dont make money taking cars back... Dont give up and DONT TAKE DELIVERY.

Having been in your situation,I tried to back out on the 3 day back out clause. I was told no because I came to them to buy. Had the dealership come to my home to sell me the car, I could have backed out. I'm sorry but I think you are stuck with the car. I know how you feel.

If you are in Singapore, I don't think there is a 3 day back out clause, I think there is a penalty if you back out after signing.

Check what you have signed, the agreement may state some conditions on this issue.

I think there is! You are probably going to get a hard time from the dealership though, so call the better business bureau and find out for sure.

There are some states that have this law. You might want to check your state laws on this. My advice might be to check your states website on laws reguarding car sales, or check with another dealership(not the one you bought your car at).

There is supposed to be on credit deals but you were not sold this on the doorstep were you.
I remember we once sold a motor to a drunk who could not remember which one he had bought when he came to pick it up, so perhaps you should have followed advice I gave on answers some time ago to go car shopping only when sober.
