swine, name for any of the cloven-hoofed mammals of the family Suidae, native to the Old World.

It's German for 'hog' and was once more common than 'pork'. Still very common in many areas of the world.

Pork, ham, bacon all come from pigs.
Swine is another name for pig(s)
