First check and make sure you need a visa -- as another Commonwealth country, you may not.
Call the Australian High Commission 25 Napier Road (6836 4100)and ask them. Or you could email them: austhc2@pacific.net.sg
Or, go to any of the travel agencies around the city and ask there. Country Holidays in Tanglin Shopping Centre will arrange this for you for about $50 plus the cost of the visa.
Good luck (ten points?)

g'day natasha, been there and done it, so I hope i can help.
What country are you coming from? One web site you need to view is www.dimia.gov.au where you will find all the application forms you require. If you are between 18 - 30 you can go for the Worker's Holiday Visa, there is a charge for this visa. However if you do not fall under this age limit, then, you must be sponsored by an employer who will either send you to Australia, or an employer in Australia who recognises a particular skill you may have. Australian Immigration are very hard to conveince that your work can be an assett to their country, anyhow, if you do fall between the ages of 18 and 30, apply for the Worker's Holiday Visa. This visa (which is suck into your passport) allows you 12 months in Australia, but only 3 months at a time in a single employement position. When you've done threes month, you have to find another job for a different company. A visitor's visa is very much different, also avaliable at the DIMIA website, it's usually granted for 3 - 6 months. Depending on your country, you can get this done electonically over the internet for about $20 aussie dollars. This is usally granted in a few working days, and you get a print out, and the airport's are notified with your name and that you have confirmed access to enter Australia. What part of Australia are you traveling to? Make sure you get the visa before you book the flight, because if for any reason you are refused or not suitable for the visa, they will not be granted access to Australia. You will have no problems getting a visitor's visa, but this does not allow you to work. Have a look at the immigration website and research before you make any flight bookings. Good luck and I hope you get here during summer.

Contact The State Department, the post office, and call The Australian Embassy in Washington D.C. I don't think you need a visa when your going on vacation. Visas are needed when you work in the country.
