My son is on Prosobee, also. The soy can constipate them a bit. I was told that babies can go a few days without having a poop, and it's not a problem unless they seem uncomfortable.
Go ahead and clean the umbilical cord gently with alcohol wipes. I little blood is normal, even after it falls off. Try using Pampers Swaddler diapers, because you can fold the top down and it doesn't rub.

The cord is perfectly normal. It will fall off in about a week.
About the prosobee... soy formulas tend to constipate more than dairy based ones. You should call the dr. because they say that babies are okay if they don't poop for a few days but a week is too much. When I expressed this concern to my dr when my 15 month old was like 2 weeks old they said I could use a pediatric suppository. You get a jar of those and cut one into quarters and use on of the quarters. This helps... but you should call your dr. fist.

It is very normal for a newborn to only have one dirty diaper every three to five days. As far as the umbillical cord take a little alcohol on a qtip and rub it around the cord, this will help dry it out so it falls off quicker and will prevent infection and yes its normal

If your baby has not had a poop in two days, it's time to see the pediatrician. The umbilical cord should not bleed either, it might have been cut too long or it's irritated by the diaper. Use a diaper liner or cloth diapers until the cord heals.

New borns most use the bathroom several times a day, get the baby to the Dr, and tell them to check the baby, there was a couple close to me, that has a baby that started throwing its own bowels up, and the baby died, it was about 5 or 6 monthes old. MAKE the dr check the baby good, don`t take no for an answer, this couple had their baby to the Dr just a few days before it died. sorry to be so blunt, but its a babies life at stake.

Could be too much iron in the formula that is constipating her..ask the Dr about it...
As for the cord rubbing..try folding the diaper down in front so it will not rub.
Good luck and HAPPY BABY!!!!

1st question: i am not sure if it causes constipation but some medications for babies are known to do this, when my son was a few weeks old my Dr told me to give him about 10mls of cooled boiled water inbetween feeds and rub his belly clockwise (direction of bowel movements) in small circle motions, this will help the babies bowels move a bit easier so ur baby can poo! it worked for my son u should try it....
2nd question: it is normal for the diaper to be rubbing against the cord and dont worry to much it doesnt hurt her. just make sure that when u bath her to gently clean it with warm water so she doesnt get any infections, the cord will fall off eventually and when it does it wont hurt but again just make sure u keep it clean so she does not get an infection. good luck sweety. its normal to worry especially when this is your first
congrats and good luck...

i have always breast fed at that age, but with my experience(i have 4 kids) 2 days is not a big problem, i had one that went about 5 days, but let me tell you...she made up for it all at once, thier was poop everywhere! yuk!took 1/2 an hour to clean that mess...if you are concerned call the pediatrician, sometimes constipation can be a sighn of a seriouse problem, but usually its just thier bodys getting used to food, and digestion ect...
the bleeding imbilical stump...my 8 week old had the same problem, not much blood, just the tinmiest bit...the doc said it was not a problem and to reduce the amount of rubbing it is exposed to, if thier is a lot of blood, call doc, or hospital to ask a doc if its a seriouse problem...try folding the diaper below the imbilical area

I was told by my midwife that babys can wait up to 10 days before pooing sometimes...to me this seemed a little scary, so after day 4 of no pooing i added a teaspoon of brown sugar to her milk and that did the trick...its an old wifes tale that brown sugar makes them go...but it works...i wouldnt use it unless they havent pooed for 2-3 days...as long as your baby is producing a good wet nappy at every change then I wouldnt panic...you will know when they are constipated because any poo they do will be hard for them to get out and will be hard and resemble rabbit poo...little round balls...
My second daughter had the umbilical cord problem aswell...hers even bled a little for a day after it dropped off...the Doc told me that as long as it wasnt smelly and red raw to leave it...dont go poking and prodding it...it will heal by itself.
hope this helps
