Most smokers are addicted after the first cigarette. More people try heroin just once and don't get addicted than smoke one cigarette and never have the habit. Other changes are a bit slower. Some, like cancer growth, don't show up for ten or more years after the damage is done.
It's very hard to quit once you start, so even if you intend it to be a short-term thing, you'll be fighting it for a long, long time - because your body IS affected right from the beginning.
The only time it's safe to smoke is when they give a guy a ciggie right before the firing squad shoots his brains out.

I think right after their very first stick. It will start affecting their breath.
But it's just my opinion. I'm not really a smoker. I tried it only once in my life and that's what happened to me.

with in about a year, it did me. It makes the body weaker than normal and takes away energy. thats way i quit, i feel much better.
