On the job today I met someone who threw some stuff around. It was totally unexpected. Nothing aimed at me or anyone else, but kind of strange. I guess he was trying to say that he was fed up with his job or something.

Well, I think everyone has...when they were a toddler. Violence as a form of self-expression can be demonstrative and forceful - especially because of it jarring within a particular social context.

Your co-worker sent a forceful message precisely because violent behavior isn't socially acceptable in the workplace...whereas, on a construction site or a boxing ring, it wouldn't have been such a big deal.

But the flip side is that violence, like swearing and cursing, is a pretty crude, imprecise way to express yourself. It takes more effort, but displays more precision and taste, to articulate precisely how you feel in more refined terms and means.

Best to you.

An intelligent man will get his message across without resorting to violence. He will use his brains, reasoning ability and communication to resolve such a matter. After all, violence never solved anything, it just results in Doctor's bills, pain and suffering....to both parties. This person you speak of only caused to frustrate himself more!

No one gets a message across by using violence it is much better for the person who is throwing things to let the person he is angry with know he is having a problem with him or something that he is doing.is giving him problems. Communication is better then throwing things around using violent action It just causes more problems

Well, when a guy says something really perverted, there's no better way to get the point across than a slap across the face.

it may have got the message across, but it certainly never resolved anything. some people are more physical i suppose than others, generally, it's how they have learnt to deal with their issues and anger when growing up.
