It isn't just in the workplace, honey. People talk about people everywhere. The worse they can make someone else look, the better they feel about their own pitiful selves.

They're usually telling stories. And even if it doesn't seem like it, the stories are often for learning about the work environment.

People share information about who you can trust to get things done, who you can trust with personal information, where to get the best lunches, what was good on television last night. It's pretty interesting stuff from a a social psychology point of view.

It all depends on if the are talking nice things or **** about others. If it is **** it is cause they r bored and have nothing better 2 do. They do it to spite the "brown nose rs". They may do it tho 2 find out about each other a bit more. They forget tho if u hear **** about someone NOT everyone is going to believe what u say and make their own opinions on other staff members.

I'm sure you're old enough to know that it doesn't just happen in the work place. Wherever there are people with lips, that' where people are going to talk about each other.

thats the way it works everywhere. most of the time its just one person gossiping, and then all the others join in, because they want to fit in. its like that anywhere, school, and any work environment. unfortunentally its just how people are sometimes

well where i work there is so much going on ALL THE TIME that its hard NOT to talk about them...there's 3 ppl having affairs, one person threatened to get shot...its so interesting, how can u NOT talk about them at work?

to make the time go by faster... if you notice when you chat up a storm the day breezes by and at the end of 8 hrs your like damn it's time to go home already? then prun..e.e.... on out the door....
