Must be nice to pick your history.
Hitler was 'brave' like a drunken football fan, doing crazy things just because he could in order to prove that nobody was ready to stop him. Nationalist? As in "National Socialist"? Yeah, he was nationalist all right. That's what NAZI means.
Saddam was simply another tin pot that we put in charge of yet one more disturbed ex-British empire geographical mess.

Since suicide is a cowardly, selfish act, I think that takes care of brave. Patriotic - if you believed in the Third Reich and his way, yes, but he was only patriotic to his own version of his own country, which never really existed anywhere but in his own mind. Nationalist - see patriotic.

Adolf Hitler was a sick, demented tyrant who took the phrase "my way or the highway" to an extreme never before or since seen. Anyone who did not agree with his "vision" of Utopia was imprisioned and murdered. In that way, he and Saddam Hussien are similar -- anyone who did not agree with Saddam was imprisoned and murdered, or simply disappeared.

It will take years for history to determine just how many people Saddam is responsible for killing, or having killed. We may never have the correct numbers. But unlike Hitler, who took his own life when capture was imminent, Saddam allowed himself to be captured, and is now doing everything he can to make a mockery of the process that will show what a murderous tyrant he is.

I think "bad" is not nearly strong enough a word to catagorize these two demented men.

Very interesting question!

Hitler saw himself as blessed or chosen. He survived the first World War without a scratch. WWI was brutal, one of the most brutal wars ever. Imagine for a moment, that the primary strategy is to charge your enemy. However, the invention of the machine gun and barbed wire made your advance slow and costly. Millions of young men died charging in futile attemts to move the lines a few yards.

He went through that brutality unscathed, and it seems to have provided him with a sense of destiny. He used the oppressive treaties signed at the end of WWI to focus his people.

He was evil, no question one of the most evil men ever to live. However, evil doesn't mean coward or stupid.

Sadam wasn't an idiot either. And he wasn't as evil as Hitler, but who is?

Both men were found in bunkers, Hitler committed suicide, Sadam probably wishes he had.

Great job posing a relevant question with a historical sense.

Hitler was a paranoid meglomaniac with a flair for speaking. The men around him used him to get what they wanted while they were giving him what he wanted. In the end they deserted him and Hitler killed himself.

Saddam Hussein, believe it or not, was actually working to hold his country together. He had no idea when he invaded Kuwait how strong the US was and how weak his own forces were. Since then he'd confined his actions to his own country and gave up ideas of conquering others. He got slapped down hard and wasn't about to take on the USA again.

Unfortunately, that didn't fit the story that Bush wanted out there. Bush Sr. left Saddam in power because there was no one to replace him. Bush Jr. took him out and..... there's no one to replace him!

I read a autobiography about Hitler and yes he was all the things you mentioned about Hilter. Hitler fought in world war 1 and I thought he was a coward in world war 2 because he didn't fight and he gave up his own battle that other people were fighting for and didn't even help his own cause by fighting for his cause

No, he was a coward to commit suicide. he knew he would have a painful death at the hands of the Russian troops who would have captured him because he knew damned well that what he did, and had done was wrong.

No, try selfish and a coward. He knew he would be tried and executed, and couldn't stand up for his beliefs because he knew he was insane.
