It is a personal decision. When a person has been humiliated to the extent that sexual assault brings, it is a very difficult, sometimes impossible thing to face the burden of proof and reliving the experience in front of a court room.
those people that are strong enough, and brave enough to stand up and face what happened and fight back to get justice, have all my respect. I for one, was not strong enough nor brave enough.

ABSOLUTELY NOT !! assault means just that, assault and no one has the right to do this to another person. the first thing we all were taught as children was to not hit your brother or sister and so on. today, as adults we have laws punishing people for assault, especially sexual assault. Now don't get confused with statutory rape because if when condoned by the two people, there are others like parents that will make that call and all because of a number that we call age or years old. I taught my sisters and sons to defend themselves and the person that crosses that line with my sisters will pay a huge price, first by my sisters, then by me. My son's are taught and trained to never put a hand on someone unless there's no other way out and then they know how to make sure that person or persons, don't ever come back for more. The reason why I taught how to hurt someone so bad is simple....people are not allowed to assault another person and if someone does assault someone, especially sexually assaulted the police should be called immediately

I don't really see any case that could make it reasonable to not report it. Maybe you can give an example?
Many woman don't report it anyway. 1 in 4 woman is either raped or molested, sorry I don't know about the male statistic. So all those sex monsters are out there ready to attack again. If it's not reported they leave themselves open for another attack or even another victim.

Reporting this kind of thing is very difficult. The thing to remember is that not only has this happened to you but someone else again. Anyone who sexual assaults someone else doesn't stop there. they will do it again and again but the next time it may be a child, or he/she may kill someone. It is never reasonable to not report abuse. Never!! Although the victim has had a horrible attack, it is also their job to help stop them.

It is never reasonable to keep silent about it. If you keep silent, you are giving that sick individual the license to continue assaulting you and to assault others. An incident that isn't written down never happened. It is a must that the incident be reported to the police and that it's being documented.

Some women don't want to relive the shame, or go to court, or run the risk of having their names and lives in the news. I can sort of understand it. And a woman *can* go to the doctor and get checked up without reporting to the police--doctors are supposed to respect confidentiality.

no it is never reasonable cause a sexual assault on a person doesnt just tramatize the person for a short time it is w/ them their whole life and the effects can ruin any personal relationships in their future are going to be jeopardized cause it will be hard for them to trust anyone and i think all people who commit sexual crimes should be shot

Er, what? I don't know under what circumstance it would be advisable not to contact the police when sexually assaulted. Unless, of course you are some big, buff dude who was sexually assaulted by your neighbor's grandma.

If you are planing on taking the bastard out yourself, or having it done, don't report it to them....other wise it is, unfortunately, the only course of action to ensure that they get at least part of what they deserve. AS for anyhting else...go donate blood, you get a free screening for things like HIV, HEP and the like.
