I have a triumph that has issues. The heads have been off for a year, the pistons are a bit rusty....can i remove the rust if there is not pitting? It all started with a blown head gasket, the previous owner used some sort of blue silicone for all the gaskets!!!! This car was a gift to me. What can i use to remove the rust? And what can i use to clean out the engine..blown gaskets...oil, water, pertrol all mixed together. Thank you

Yep, no problem....just soak the cylinders in ATF, after a few days...roll the motor over until all pistons are half way down. Then fill the void with ATF. This will not only help eat the rust, it will swell the oil rings up to help them seal so you don't end up burning oil from dried out rings. Good luck. 1500? I would also recommend a downdraft conversion. I put a 1500 Holley (32/36 weber design) on my Midget and it now gets around 40mpg.

Take it to a machine shop and have the heads magnafluxed for cracks before you spend too much time and money on it.

If you have a cracked head, all the work you do will be wasted.
