Knowledge is the consumption or attainment of facts. Wisdom is the gathering of information based on facts and experiences.

Example:
A young man graduates from college. He has an Electrical Engineering Degree (knowledge). He assumes now that he has his degree he can get a top paying job anywhere (although its great to be confident he lacks wisdom).

A senior individual knows that continued education through out life, good work ethics, a continued effort to better himself, and the respect of as many people as possible is how one can get a top paying job (wisdom).

The difference between knowledge and wisdom...
Knowledge is just information you have obtained. It is entirely worthess by itself.
Wisdom is your ability to use that for a positive effect and determining when and what knowledge is required in a certain situation.

Knowledge can be taught. Computers have knowledge.
Wisdom is self-accrued. People [some/sometimes] are wise.

This is a tough debate in modern philosophy, but can be cleared if your are wise.

Only the wise truly understand and belive the difference...

Great question, BTW! Thumbs-up rating!

Possibly knowledge is a matrix of factual information gained directly or vicariously, while wisdom comprises the useful and applicable understandings extracted from such a body of knowledge to guide one in prudent and morally correct life choices.

For me, personally, wisdom begins with a sense of proportion, and a strong recognition of the simple idea of "enough."
