Democratic politicians have been holding an M-16 at Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfield for some time. All the while, Bush and his cronies have been giving Dems more and more ammo to fire at them, but alas, the Dems have been afraid to pull the trigger and let them have it, for fear of neocon phrases like "cut and run", "defeatocrats", "unpatriotic", etc. Meanwhile, Bush never changed his "stay the course" attitude because it wasnt working, or because of all the people killed, it wasnt until Republicans started complaining to him that they were going to lose the mid-term elections if he didnt rethink the current strategy.
By the way, some Bush translations.....
"stay the course"----means "To change course is to admit I was wrong, and I will never do that no matter how many people get killed"
"changing tactics"---means "we are gonna get killed in the election if we don't at least SAY we are going to do something different".
Why dont the Dems stand up to the Republicans?

Well first of all the democrats have their hands tied in congress right now. With the majority Republican congress they can't get legislation passed investigating the 9/11 OR the Iraqi war situation. Until they have a majority that can help, rather than hinder, getting to the truth of things there is that proverbial gun pointed, but unfortunately, only blanks can be fired through media and what not. After this election, when a majority democrat congress is in power and legislation authorizing SERIOUS investigations of what is working and what is not, all we can do is watch as fingers are pointed, and those in power keep "staying the course". I think Bush is slightly terrified of Democrats being in the majority, because then some real work can be done, as far as cleaning house is concerned.
Right now Democrats KNOW he is in the wrong--the only problem is lack of proof, and lack of power to change anything.

Good question. Attacking Bush is like shooting fish in a barrel. How hard is that. Or do we really just have the best politics that money can buy? Of course, under Bush, if you protest you are a traitor, and as he controls the press, he can make you look very bad. Cheney still mouths weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and they still let him get away with it. It may be too scary for dems to take him on, or are they letting him have all the rope he needs to hang himself and his party? It is really hard to tell why there are no men of character speaking up among the democrats save maybe clinton or kennedy.

The Dems will develop some guts the same time you neo-nazi conservatives grow some brains.

Sure, whatever you say, do you want an answer or only someone to agree with you. I'll stand up to any Republican anyday. If you are talking about the politicians, who says they aren't, and how am I suppose to control their actions.

Being a democrat is a disease and it don't come with any morals, loyalty or guts. It just comes with the will to spread it!
