it's the only liquid that expands with cold, while everything else contracts, due to crystalization. The celsius scale is based upon the freeze point of water,(0c) and the boil point of water (100c). Water boils faster if you add only a few crystals of salt to it, yet if you make it salty it takes forever to boil. Hope it helps.
