Yes it is true, which country are you from? Im from London UK,
His real name is Sacha Baron Cohen. Sacha says he is from London but even that is only a rumour(as we have never met)
I hope to see his new film have you seen it. the critics say it is a good film.

I think that the movie Borat was spun off from a character that Sacha Baron Cohen created on The Ali G Show.

To take you literally, No. Ali G and Borat are not the same person.
They are, however, both characters played by Sacha Baron-Cohen, in the same way that Barry Humphries was Dame Edna and Les Patterson.
The beauty of Borat is that he exposes the prejudice, racism, and anti-semitism in other people by 'pretending' to be on their side.
In reality Sacha Baron-Cohen is Jewish, and so any people who criticise him by saying he is racist have totally missed the point of his characters. I feel sorry for them as I think he is one of the funniest men alive and it's a pity we can't sometimes be made to laugh at ourselves without getting all 'high and mighty' about it.
Anyway, to answer your question, yes it is true that the same person plays both the characters, but Ali G and Borat are quite different.

ali g and borat are played by the same person - Sacha Cohen. I cant wait to see Borat movie, i think he is so so funny.
