Alligator Snapping Turtle does have ridges(spikes) on it's shell. You should be able to find a pic on internet easily enough.

I don't know where you live, but I did find a site with decent
identifier/comparison pictures of both the common and the alligator snapping turtles.

Check it out at: http://www.chelydra.org/common_alligator_snapping_turtle.html

Sorry, I'm kind of a cyber-brick/dinosaur, so I don't know how to prepare the link for you.

Hope this helps anyway!

Good Luck, & may God Bless!!
