Although it seems like there should be a way to measure sex drive, to do so would be unfair. Medically, suggested causes include: stress, fatigue, alcohol, medication. Psychologically, low self esteem and sometimes just plain worrying or dwelling too much on what you perceive to be the problem can be the cause. I think one of the biggest problems is society's portrayal
of men always being 'ready to go.' Give yourself a break from worrying about it too much and live life. Best wishes!

I was just told by a doctor, in fact, that it can be caused by low testosterone. You can get tested for testosterone level. What causes low levels is uncertain, but it seems to may have something to do with being overweight. A hormonal gel can be prescribed that gets absorbed through the skin, to raise the testosterone levels; an endocrinologist could tell you more. Supposedly, low testosterone levels are actually bad for your health, not just for your sex drive; it affects your immune system or something.
(I know this because I just spoke to a doctor re. my husband's low sex drive; he has always been this way, and I asked the dr. out of curiousity.)

Ii am not a doctor, but everyone system is different. If you are the one that is having the low sex drive, then I would go to the doctor for the proper medication, or counseling if he/she suggest it.
You are not going to get a honest answer unless he/she is a medical assistant or doctor.
I wish you the best of luck.

Your sex drive depends on many things.
You can alter some, but not all.
The value you place on sexual contact with someone or someone "special"
will not likely affect your "urges"; but will affect your number of partners, ergo your desire to have sex.
If you only want sex that is meaningful, that can "mimic" a low sex drive
UNTIL
you meet that special someone, and then your sex drive will automatically and dramatically increase.
Now, IF you are already with that special somoene, and you just don't feel like you want to have sex, then you may have a low libido...meaning you just don't think about or desire sex frequently.
Your BRAIN is your biggest sex organ.
Use it for sex, and you will stimulate all your other sex organs very well.
You can better match a partner with a higher sex drive, by "stimulating" your desire with pictures, sexy talk during the day, thinking about her undressed, thinking about what it feels like to see and touch her female parts, playfullness, touching, teasing. ACTIVE things that are fun together.
Some muscle building supplements do help increase levels of testerone; but that is usless if you do not "desire" to use what you have.
Create your "desire" in your BRAIN first.
Your body will follow.

Well, only your doctor will know the correct answer, but it is common that men have a hard time getting it up and a lower sex drive with age.
It's best to talk to your doc about any problems with intimacy and go from there. He may prescribe Viagra.

Could be a number of things. My first husband had a very low sex drive, which is what caused our divorce. Turns out he had hardening of the arteries (a family inherited disease in his case) and died of an instantaneous heart attack about 20 months after we divorced. I would recommend a thorough physical.

This depends on age and medical condition. If you are concerned, best to get it checked out with a urologist, because it could be caused by many things. Remember guys peak out on their testosterone at around 18 - downhill from there!
