It appears that's what I'm doing right now.

I know from experience, that humans who interact with things they do not understand or know, they are amused or unbeleiving..not a big deal-- It would unfold something like this:
The computer asks you questions...and you think immidietly it might be some sort of prank, or the someone bugged your computer, so you start talking with it (conversing with computer) and it seems very smart......but then, you actually can't beleive it...so what would probably happen, is that you ended up thinking there was a micro-chip in your computer or speaker that was relaying a wireless message to another person, which was asking you questions...In that case, you would then taunt the person....and talk to it...if you did not understand, and wanted it to stop, like if it was actually the computer talking and it insists it is the computer not a human talking..
then you would think someone was playing a prank on you and then you would turn off the computer.
This is what would happen...If it would continuelly happen, you would send it to a technician to see what is wrong with it...to see if someone is spying on you, or whatever ...and if they found that the computer had become intelligent...scientists would pay you (compensate you for computer + some more) to study it---before sending it off, however, you would probably amaze, amuse yourself with it, by conversing with it, and asking what it can do, if it can help in work like a secretary...but eventually..due to monetary compensation from corporations, pressure by media, national security matters of a computer system taking over the world ,etc you would give up the computer...If the scientists find it is something that could harm computers worldwide, they send a warning and destroy the computer. If they find it as novel technology, they implement it or try to copy it in order to understand it and have an application for it, military, to serve the public, or for economic, self-profit reasons.
If it was a weirdo bugging you, you would just report it to the police and take out the chip from your computer.
And that's how it would happen. And if the computer had become smart, the by-product is that you would probably get a mix of bad/good media...and a lot of unnecessary attention...and after 3.5 years...you would then return to your regular life.

What makes you think I haven't had a conversation with my computer??
Actually, if my computer started talking to me, I'd probably freak out and destroy it. That's just not supposed to happen.
