no one really knows if homer existed, he was just a story teller/writer

It is sometimes said, as a jest, that there was once a scholar who spent his whole life trying to prove that the Iliad and the Odyssey were written not by Homer, but by another ancient Greek of the same name.

Homer was a blind man! Ha top that one. Oh and he was more than just a story teller like whats her name up there says, the man was a poet! And he was blind.
