The song that I am looking for was out in the early or middle seventies. I know some of the lyrics to the song but I cannot remember who sung it. How do I find a song if I don't know the author or group that sung it. Here are some of the lyrics to the song. Up drove a hearst cadillac a crowd of people gathered round all dressed in black and as they removed her body from the car such paid I never knew had filled my heart. What have I done lord to deserve this misery. All of my life all of my world has come falling down on me. I happened on a saturday night my love and I had just had a silly fight. I was at home watching tv when noise of the phone rudely disturbed me. Why oh why I heard her mother cry as she informed me that there had been an accident. These are most of the lyrics to the song, again I just don't remember who made the song. Help me.

The Unifics did this song in the late 60s/early 70s. It's called "The Beginning of My End." It's available on CD through Amazon (on the CD "Sittin' in at The Court of Love").

Ooh...ooh...ooh...ooh...

Up drove the Hearst Cadillac
A crowd of people gathered ‘round all dressed in black
And as they removed her body from the car
Such pain I never knew did fill my heart

I lost the only woman I’ve ever loved
Lord has returned her up above
Life will never be the same again
It’s the beginning of my end

It happened on a Saturday night
My love and I had just had a silly fight
She got into her car and angrily drove away
Neither of us knew then that she’d never see another day

What have I done, Lord, to deserve this misery
All of my life and all of my world has come falling down on me

I was at home watching my TV
When the noise of the phone really disturbed me
I wasn’t too sure at first just what the doctor meant
When he informed that there had been an accident

“Why, oh, why,” I heard her mother cry
As I rushed to the scene with the tears in my eyes
Somebody asked, somebody asked who was the next of kin
And oh, Lord, it was the beginning of my end
(The beginning of my end)
