My car is making a weird noise. Whenever I go over 40 mph, there is a knocking noise and my steering wheel shakes, it sounds like its coming from the tire..or somewhere around there. There is no way I would be able to take my over 45 mph. I did get wheel barrings/strut and strut mounts/tyrods and control arms replaced in the front. I just cant understand what else it would be. Can someone give me some ideas, that would make that noise going over 40mph, before I take it in? Thanks a lot!

Hi check your tires if you see cracks in side walls chances are belts inside have separated and you need new tires also balance the new tires and rim or you willl have vibration above 40mpg..

soundls like the wheels were not balanced following the strut and tyrod replacement??? But in any event get into a garage as soon as you can before something breaks and hurts you or someone else on the road. your car should not e driven in this state, it is an accident waiting to happen.

Please do something soon to get it rectified, wheel balancing is not that expensive but it does make a big difference to the cars handling and feel.

If your steering wheel shakes then it is definitely the wheels. It means one of your front wheels is out of balance and needs a balancing. This is very bad for tire wear, worst case possible is that you need 2 new tires for the front but i'm pretty sure a wheel balance will fix it.

I agree with Magnum, broken belts in tire/tires leaving a bubble on the rolling side of the tire ,feel around the tires for it, replace bad one
