diamond you need to trust what your heart is saying, please take your baby to another doctor.Don't be afraid, just trust God honey.I have a special needs child, and had the same feelings as you do.I finally found a Dr.who listened. She has a rare diagnosis,I'm not trying to frighten you.Its better to know now,and get some answers then wait. There may be nothing wrong but its better for baby and you,as there are early intervention programs. Is your baby responding to sounds, does his cry seem low pitched.Does he look different then other family members? If you need help I have many resources as my child is 15 now.Don't worry sweetie,God only give the special ones to special ones.

My son was probably 7 1/2 months before he really sat up great. I would get him checked by a pediatrician if you are worried. Sometimes a mother knows best!!! I took my son to the doctor at 15 months because I thought he had a speech delay... the doctor said he was fine... I went and put him on the speech therapy list myself and he is 3 1/2 now and has been seeing the speech therapist since he was 19 months old. His speech is still delayed. If I would have listened to my doctor I would have been just getting him help now!! Follow your instincts sweety and get it all checked out... if nothing else to ease your own mind!!

I would say that every baby does things at their own speed. I have three daughters they walked at 10 months 13 months and 14 months. Each child grows and learns at their own pace. My nephew didn't sit up until 10 months but started walking two days after his first birthday. That being said if you are concerned with his progress and your doctor isn't listening to your concerns then it is probably time for a new doctor. A doctors job is to listen and if there is nothing wrong then he should explain how he came to the conclusion that everything is fine.

If you are worried about it you should seek help. Most counties have "Early Intervention Services." This is a program where someone comes in and evaluates if your child has a serious delay. If they find enough of a delay, they will most likely start services for your child. The services cost nothing or nearly nothing depending on your insurance company. Each child does develop in their own time, but if you're really worried, that's what I would do.
ALSO they do not judge you if your child does have a serious enough delay to require services... they just help you get what you need.

Sounds like this is your first baby. I was the same way with my firstborn, too. Always measuring him against others. He was a really late developer and quite behind the "average" kids. Later he became extremely intelligent and well advanced in many aspects. Each child is different. Try to not measure him based on others. They all end up catching up to what is basically "normal". Try to relax and enjoy your son!

I know this one.... my son, the same thing happened.. he was 8 months old and still not sitting up. Nor would he crawl, he would roll around. The doc told me I had a big lazy boy hahaha and that I needed to make him sit up. Work with him non stop.. He told me to make him sit up. And he was sitting up in no time.. but guess what... ??? he is now 19 and still lazy.. hahaha..come to think of it, he didn't move too much when I was pregnant with him either. If he was over a year, there might be concern, but listen to your doctor for now.

mothers instinct stick with it...if you feel something isnt right then maybe its not...have him looked at again and explain in detail to the doctor....with the not sitting up yet that every well could be normal all kids dont develop the same but im sure you know that

It's probably nothing to worry about and maybe he is just a little late developing, my little boy was late with all his milestones... I would go with your instincts though if you think something is wrong , try another doctor and get a second opinion. just to be on the safe side.. good luck

babies develop at different paces so that doesnt mean something is wrong just becuase he isnt sitting by himself and as far as his cry changing that is something that i would also be concerend about and if the doctor told me everything is okay and i still felt something was wrong then i would get a second opioion because you have something the doctor doesnt have and thats mothers intuition...good luck

If he doesn't react to loud sounds he may have a problem with his ears, ears affect balance and would most likely delay his being able to balance enough to sit. If you are truly worried seek a second opinion.
